Another Day of Fiesta, Another Day Without a Doctor Visit

Well, I guess I don't have much new news for the blog, so I'll just give a quick update and resort to uploading a few pictures of Eric.  As the title of this post states, today was a local holiday here in Denia, and so, like yesterday, the hospital seemed abandoned.  There was only one doctor on call for the trauma ward, and he was called into an emergency surgery this morning, so, once again, no doctors came to visit Mauri.  They didn't bring him his supposedly daily bottle of water to drink either.
Although the nurses did come by occasionally to start a new dose of IV antibiotics, nobody took a look at his wound, so, obviously, he went another day without a change of bandages.  Although it is difficult to understand, and for me is inexcusable, we've gotten used to the fact that the hospitals basically shut down during holidays and on weekends, so we weren't really expecting to get much more new information this week.
We asked the nurse about it, and she was the one who told us that the one doctor on call was busy in the OR, but she assured us that tomorrow a doctor will definitely come by and take a look.  Let's hope she's right.  Even on normal days, the doctors make their quick rounds only once in the morning.  So, it's hard to understand how they can't dedicate those 2 minute visits to each patient even on the holidays.
Eric is also doing pretty much the same. He had a few new spots on his belly last night, but none of the spots are getting worse, and none are getting little blisters, so I'm more doubtful about his rash being the chicken pox.  Because of the fiestas, I couldn't get an appointment with his doctor until Friday anyways, so, by then, it should be easier to diagnose or to at least dismiss as some other unimportant virus or something else.
At least Eric is able to enjoy the fiestas of Denia.  He's spending the day with Mauri's parents. Yesterday one of the nurses told Mauri's parents that Eric couldn't be here because he is under 12 years old.  So, I was a bit too scared to bring him back this morning, despite the fact that nobody else had said anything up until now. It's supposedly for Eric's good, so that he doesn't catch any nosocomial infections.  With Mauri being in an individual room, in the trauma ward, I don't see that the risk is that high.  She wanted us to keep him in the waiting room at the end of the hall, but that seems dumb to me because there the risk seems much higher.  The other patients go hang out there with other family members and other people.  Anyways, the nurse said she told us, but that we were free to do as we like, so it didn't feel like a strict prohibition.  I wasn't sure what to do, but figured Eric would be better playing outside all day anyways.  Mauri wants to see him, though, so they will likely bring him here to me this evening, so I can bring him home directly from here.
Today was the day that we were going to eat paella outside, so I'm sure Eric is having fun playing with the older kids outside in the street.  Tomorrow is the day that the kids have their activities.  Mauri told me to go with Eric to go see it.  We'll see.  I feel bad about going to it without Mauri. I'll let you know in the next day or two, and show you pictures and/or videos if I do decide to go.
